Narrative history
R61333 Sergeant (No. 419 Moose Squadron RCAF aero engine mechanic) Martin Benedict Leboldus (b.1921) of Vibank was KIA 19440220 and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial near London, England, for airmen from the north European theatre who died with no known grave. Leboldus and his crewmates did not return from a major raid on Leipzig. Theirs was one of the 79 Halifax bombers (out of 823 which participated in the raid) which was shot down. Martin was educated at Vibank and took an aeronautics course at Balfour Tech, Regina, before enlisting there in 1940.

One Leboldus boy survived war service, but two of Martin's brothers John and Peter perished while with the RCAF. They were the sons of John, a hardware and implement dealer, and Regina (Weisberg) Leboldus. Regina was the Silver Cross Mother in 1955.
