Narrative history
  J35044 Flying Officer (No. 619 Squadron RAF navigator) (John) Joseph Kommes (b.1922) of Regina was KIA 19440725 and is buried at Escoublac-la-Baule war cemetery near Saint-Nazaire, Loire-Atlantique, France. Kommes' Lancaster was lost during a night raid on Saint-Nazaire. He was the son of John Baptist and Katherine Maryann (Dietz) Kommes who came from Iowa. Joseph was a graduate of Campion college and Balfour Tech and was an assistant accountant for Canada Packers when he enlisted at Regina in 1942.
