Narrative history
  J23790 Flying Officer (RCAF pilot) Nicholas (Nick) Chobaniuk (b.1919) of Regina died 19450114 and is buried at Blacon cemetery, Chester, Cheshire, England. Chobaniuk's Wellington crashed at Holt Farm, Sketchley Hinckley, Leicestershire, on a training flight from No. 26 Operational Training Unit. He and his crew were lost and low on fuel when Chobaniuk brought his Wellington down to look for an airfield, but caught a wingtip. He was the son of Paul a carpenter, and Dominica (Nettie) Chobaniuk who came from Bukovina, now part of Romania. Nick was a graduate of Central collegiate and was also working as a carpenter when he enlisted at Vancouver late in 1941.
