Narrative history
  L25651 Sergeant (Canadian Army Corps of Military Staff Clerks) John Anderson Burns (b.1920) of Regina was KIA 19410430 and is commemorated on the Halifax Memorial for servicemen lost or buried at sea. Burns was a passenger on the SS Nerissa when she was torpedoed off Ireland, see Nerissa. He was the son of George Henry, a member of the Veterans Guard, and Isabella Burns. John was born at Aberdeen, Scotland, educated at Benson school and the commercial high school at Balfour Tech, and was working as a clerk stenographer when he enlisted at Regina on the outbreak of the war.
