| 472017 Corporal (16th Battalion, Manitoba Regiment) Ernest Oliver (b.1889) of Saskatoon was KIA 19160613 at Mount Sorrel and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, which bears the names of 55,000 men who were lost without trace during the defence of the Ypres Salient in the First World War. He was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Oliver of Coalisland, Tyrone, Ireland. Ernest was working as a clerk when he enlisted at Saskatoon in 1915. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
