Narrative history
  781324 Private (28th Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment) Clarence Garfield Mainse (b.1892) of Mortlach died 19171107 of wounds from an enemy shell at Passchendaele and is buried at Vlamertinghe New military cemetery west of Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. He was the son of Edward Toppin and Susan Mainse of Lyndhurst, Leeds Co., Ontario. Clarence was working as a clerk when he enlisted at Moose Jaw late in 1915.
