Narrative history
  114560 Private (1st Canadian Mounted Rifles, Saskatchewan Regiment) Duncan Dewar (b.1885) of Dunfermline east of Asquith was KIA 19160602 at Sanctuary Wood and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, which bears the names of 55,000 men who were lost without trace during the defence of the Ypres Salient in the First World War. He was the son of Alex and Elizabeth Dewar who came from Aberfeldy, Perth & Kinross, Scotland. Duncan was working as a carpenter when he enlisted at Saskatoon early in 1915.
