Narrative history
  216681 Private (1st Canadian Mounted Rifles, Saskatchewan Regiment) John Thomas Arbon (b.1896) of Alameda was KIA 19180914 during the preparations for the battle of Canal du Nord and is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial north of Arras, Pas-de-Calais, for the 11,000+ Canadian soldiers who perished in northern France with no known grave. He was the son of Benjamin and Alice Arbon of Glinton, Cambridgeshire, England. John took a homestead at SE15-21-13-W1 east of McCreary, Manitoba, but was farming at Alameda when he enlisted at Winnipeg early in 1916.
